Artist Statement

I have always been fascinated by fleeting moments and how easily we can forget them—often without even trying. Through this captivation, I found photography, a medium that can freeze reality and allow us to grasp time before it moves beyond our recollection. In this discipline life can be immortalized and cherished. I strive to capture a feeling of permanent stillness as I create; aiming to make my memories into lasting, physical images.

My work is focused on the everyday—the surroundings that we quickly glance past, the mundane motions we go through, and the ways nature is peppered into our lives. The images that I make attempt to straddle the line between a feeling of melancholy and an appreciation for small experiences. Life frequently flexes between these two extremes, and it is their crossroads where I pay most of my attention: one part savoring the tiniest moments, one part reflecting on the past and future.
